The Akabeko is a traditional folk toy from the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture. Crafted from papier-mâché, it depicts a red cow with a bobbing head. The figure is believed to bring good luck and protection from illness, especially for children, and has long been cherished as a regional symbol of resilience and well-being.
There is visible peeling and adhesive residue on the back.
