About Kaneko Coma Shoten

"Good Things Know No Borders."

I'm drawn to the warm, gentle roughness found in folk crafts. They're not perfect, but they're practical, and they carry a kind of beauty that puts you at ease. Like creatures from the natural world with a bit of clumsy charm, they bring quiet smiles to ordinary moments. Each time I find something like that, it lifts my spirits.

In early 2025, my beloved cat Coma passed away. She was at the center of my daily life, quietly guiding me through many turning points. Her gentleness, her calm presence, and her lovable nature are qualities I still want to share with the world in some form. That feeling is what led me to start Kaneko Coma Shoten.

The concept of the shop is simple:
"Good things, the things I love."

I follow my instinct, choosing folk art, crafts, and antiques that feel right regardless of genre, tradition, or country of origin. One day, I hope this place will connect people who share similar tastes and values, across borders and languages. For now, I'm starting close to home. And like Coma herself, I hope this shop can quietly brighten someone's everyday life.

I'll shop in Japan for you.

In addition to the items in our shop, Kaneko Coma Shoten also offers a personal shopping service. My goal is to bring you the kinds of everyday Japanese finds that travelers rarely come across — things rooted in real life, in real neighborhoods. This service grew quietly and naturally, and it's already brought smiles to customers around the world.

To get started, reach out by email or Instagram DM. We'll go back and forth until you feel completely confident — no purchase is made until you're happy with what we've found together.
