Origin: Zimbabwe
Size: Approx. 33cm Height: Approx. 14cm
Materials: Ilala palm leaf
A one-of-a-kind handwoven basket, made by Tonga women living along the Zambezi River.
The ilala palm leaves are dyed using tree bark, roots, and mud, then woven together in two tones — natural beige and deep brown. Originally used as everyday tools for carrying and winnowing grain, each basket is a unique piece of craft. This one has a deep bowl form that rises sharply from a narrow base, covered entirely in a dense lightning pattern.
Note:
Natural dyes are used. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or strong artificial light. As this is a handmade piece, slight variations in size and pattern are part of its character. Keep away from humidity to prevent mold.
