ガーナ・ファンティ族の軍旗文化「アサフォフラッグ」の一枚です。
赤地に大胆なアップリケで構成された図案には、大きな鳥や人物の姿が配され、力や物語を象徴するような構成が印象的です。角にはユニオンジャックが配されており、かつての植民地時代に制作されたアサフォ旗の特徴的な様式を踏襲しています。
アサフォフラッグは17世紀以降、軍団の象徴や教訓・逸話を視覚的に表現するために作られてきた布旗で、特に1950年代以前の作品にはイギリス植民地時代の影響が色濃く残っています。
実用として掲げられていたものから、後年は儀礼や祭礼用、あるいは壁飾りとして用いられたものまで多岐にわたり、アップリケや刺繍の自由な表現と色使いが魅力です。

※本品はガーナの伝統的な布旗「アサフォフラッグ（Asafo flag）」の一例ですが、具体的な制作年代や図案の意味については不明です。構造や意匠から、1950年代以前の様式を踏襲していると考えられますが、断定はできません。民芸品としての特性とあわせてご理解ください。

This piece is an example of a traditional Ghanaian Asafo flag. However, the exact date of production and the meaning of its imagery remain unknown. Based on its structure and design, it appears to follow a style seen prior to the 1950s, but this cannot be confirmed. Please understand this as part of the nature of folk art.
