These charming wooden toys are hand-carved in Huancayo, a town nestled in the Andes at an altitude of about 3,200 meters. Each cat is unique, with different facial expressions, clothing colors, and painted patterns. The figures are shaped using knives and chisels, then brightly painted by hand. Today, this craft is preserved by just one family, who continue to make each piece with care. These little figures carry with them the atmosphere of Peru and the warmth of a family’s handmade work.
