This hand-carved wooden toy is made in Huancayo, a town in the Andes of Peru at an altitude of around 3,200 meters. Each piece is completely unique, with different facial expressions, clothing colors, and patterns. Crafted by carving shapes with knives and chisels, then vividly hand-painted, this traditional work is now carried on by a single family. These small figures convey the atmosphere of Peru and the warmth of handcraft passed down through generations.
